Fortress  Amberd, a medieval construction of the10th century of princes Pahlavuni, is on a southern slope of mountain Aragats at height of 2300 meters above sea level.  Rather well kept fortress with adjoining to its territory is erected on an unapproachable plateau which slopes abruptly fall to deep gorge.
